Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is integral for leaders, now more than ever. Leaders with high emotional intelligence experience:

  • Higher personal performance

  • 15% to 29% higher revenues in their teams or divisions

  • Four times better employee retention

  • More constructive conflict resolution

  • Higher levels of trust with their employees

  • Higher employee motivation

  • Better team cohesion and effectiveness

What is EQ?

According to the EQ-i 2.0 ® Technical Manual, 2011, EQ is a set of emotional and social skills that influence the way we:

  • Perceive and express ourselves

  • Develop and maintain social relationships

  • Cope with challenges

  • Use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way

How can you increase EQ?

Unlike IQ, you can strengthen your EQ.

  • Practice self-awareness and mindfulness

  • Be aware of how emotion hinders your decision-making (e.g., procrastinator, worrier, avoider…)

  • Choose to focus on your strengths

  • Allow yourself to be open and vulnerable

  • Be courageous

  • Work with a coach
